When I was about 9, I wanted to watch Harry Potter but my grandmother wouldn't let me, when I asked her why she said that it was because it had talking snakes in it which meant it was honoring the devil. Unfortunately for my grandmother my young mind interpreted this as saying "You have to choose between religion and snakes." As a looked at a framed picture of Jesus later that day, I suddenly thought to myself; 'Do you know what's cooler than some dead guy? Snakes.'
So what was your first revelation? When did you first think "Hey, I'm a(n) ______."

I was staying down at my grandpa's house for the weekend so he took me with him to church (unsure what denomination of Christianity). I had brought my Velociraptor and Sam Neill action figures from Jurrasic Park to play with. Apparently the Sunday school teacher thought dinosaurs are just an example of god trolling humanity and the she gave me an earful about how dinosaurs were just lies etc. etc. That was the first time I ever thought "This person is a nut job!" about anyone.
