Fergie Calls Time on Manchester United Career

Ferguson retires as United manager I half expected the apocalypse to happen before anyone would see this day... It's almost incomprehensible to anyone below 40, United fan or not, to imagine football without the man. The biggest surprise for me was how abrupt it was - especially for this relatively meagre season (by United's standards) - even though I'm a Chelski fan, I wouldn't begrudge Fergie a final retirement treble. Anyway, there go United's next 20 titles.

 • It's a real landmark day in football to be honest seeing as how the game has lost arguably its best manager. I know Moyes is the favourite to replace him, and that he's a good manager in his own right, but those are some awfully big shoes to fill for someone who has never won a major trophy and hasn't played Champions League football for nearly a decade. Mourinho is a much better option, IMO, as he has the ego and CV to carry it off.
