(bear in mind, this is all just opinion)
Now, i think it's fair to say that the past few series haven't been the best. Yes, there have been some good episodes but i am of the opinion they are overwhelmed by the mediocre and less-than-mediocre ones that ran alongside them.
but this series (7 part 2) seems to be different. apart from the first two episodes which i found meh they have all been quite interesting and thoroughly enjoyable in their own particular way. i don't want to jump the gun here cos the finale's next week and i am not looking forward to finding out The Doctor's name, but the way this series is going we might be onto a winning year for Matt Smith; not to mention the 50th anniversary is looking like it's gonna be awesome too (not that i've seen a lot; i'm deliberately keeping myself in the dark as much as possible). i can genuinely say that i'm looking forward to Doctor Who this year which i haven't been able to say for a good while.

Hide has been the only really great episode so far this (half) series. Cold War, Bells and Nightmare were all okay, Rings and Crimson Horror were little bit rubbish, although Rings had dat monologue. The earlier half of series 7 had some stonkers; Asylum, Mercy, Three, and Angels were all great. My guess is the Pond chemistry helped a lot.
