Well, it was certainly worth the wait my friends! I am merely two hours into the game and I am absorbed already by the story and atmosphere. Right now I am battling off these spiders who are very sensitive to your light. Great new tactic! Abite being similar to Alan Wake.
This game runs AMAZINGLY on the PC! Even with my petty 460m GTX and 8gb of DDR3 RAM I am running the game at a playable 30+ FPS at high settings with SLAA turned off. As far as I can see, SLAA tanks your FPS if you do not have the proper gpu. So I turned it off and cranked my AF to 16x. Even at those settings, this game is drop dead beautiful! A vast improvement of stability and fidelity. The only thing that I do not like, is the lack of an FOV option. I would have REALLY like to see more around me. It really lets me be more absorbed instead of cramming everything in front of your screen like a tiny rat hole.
The games story is taking right where we left off. Artyom is officially a Ranger and Khan is actually a hippie now like he is supposed to be. It does not take long for things to become interesting and engaging. That takes about 2 seconds at the opening. Artyom is now filled with regret for what he has done. A last act of pure genocide for a misunderstood creature who was merely incompatible for communication.
When you think about it that way. You feel lower than dirt.
Everything has been given a work over. The combat feels more intuitive, but still challenging. The AI actually seems more competent, if not a little too forgiving at times in stealth. I only wish that they would have hired some of the better known Russian actors who can pull off their accent. Why not Gary Oldman? Or the guys from Battlefield 3? Or even... Ah who am I kidding. It is not bad at all. Just a bit weird at times because it feels strange.
I am still going to jump on the publishers for keeping that ridiculous pre order idea with Ranger mode. One thing, I do not know how to redeem my pre order content from Steam? It is the download version, but I see no cd key, nor have I gotten some kind of email with a code. What do I do?
Rapping this up; if you are even remotely curious about Last Light. GO GET IT NAO!!!! The game is not relying too heavily on knowledge of 2033 and can be explained easily in its opening moments. But you will certainly get more out of the game.

I don't like
that it went with the Nuke the dark ones ending to Metro instead of the stopped it ending. I din't blow 'em up and wish you could "import" your last game.
The new controls are taking some getting used too but I'm having fun.
