Bungie has said that there will be "social" places where you may use 3rd person view, but no talk about whether it is optional to use a 3rd person shooter style during combat. Many people love first person shooter and most of the Halo fans will agree. But many RPG and MMO lovers would probably like to see the 3rd person shooter available. Personally, if Destiny is gonna allow me to customize the shit out of my character im going to want to be able to see my character at all times. Let me know what you guys think!

I think that if you see them and can "show them off" in the town, and can (probably) see them in a vehicle, that's good enough for me. :)
