I'm going to work on a container ship

I'm going to work on a container ship as an Ordinary seaman. Which is the entry level apprenticeship job before advancing to Able seaman. The industry is severely undermanned and ships are in desperate need of crew, with most container ships only having 12-15 crew. I'm nervous, but after getting out of the military, I'm excited to do something else out of the ordinary. One day when I have kids I want to be able to talk about the army and my time on ships and who knows where I will go after. Currently I'm waiting on my ID from the TSA and then am applying for my Z-card. Does anyone have any previous experience and wants to give advice to a 22 year old aspiring seafarer? I know the job is not easy and is extremely demanding, but I can do it and I have amazing work ethic and capability. I'm also sad because I'm gonna miss a lot of my favorite games for months at a time. But small sacrifice to be able to make some money.

Oh, you were Army. Can't give you that much advice. I don't like being on ships. Had to stay on one for a while after we left S korea. Didn't feel right to me. Just try not to get seasick I guess. And try to get familiar with the layout of the ship as soon as you can. And make sure you get as comfortable with the cramped spaces as you can. I sure as hell didn't.
