If Aliens do exist...
Do you think that unlike humans, they actually know the meaning of their existence?
Obviously there's now way for us to know, so I'm not looking for facts, just opinions. I myself don't really have one, this is something that I was randomly thinking about while I was half awake this morning.

Probably not. Figuring out the meaning of your existence implies that there is a meaning to begin with.

I don't believe an advanced extra terrestrial civilization would have found any meaning to existence. In fact, I would say they would have most likely discovered that existence just 'is' and that meaning is nothing more than a condition of the ego through which all sentient beings interpret our universe. There is nothing inherent about 'meaning.'

1 ReplyI can't imagine that they would. That would imply that as a sentient being with free will it is possible for us to have a purpose. It's hard to assume that we both have (truly) free will and that we also have a determined purpose in the universe. Same for any (assumed to be humanoid) alien creatures.

No, but depending on how advanced they are they may have given themselves a purpose.
