This is ridiculous and I'm struggling to see how this even happens. Where's the public interest argument?
A 17 year old and a 15 year old are in a relationship. One turns 18 and suddenly she's arrested? This is grade A stupidity, unenforceable and someone selectively applying the law in response to parents angry that their daughter prefers other girls. Honestly, how many parents would have done this to an 18 year old boyfriend?

What happened was, the two girls were under the age of consent, and it was fine. Then the older girl turned eighteen, while the other girl was still a minor, and now it wasn't fine. However, if the older girl had been 23 or under, and the younger girl 17 or older, that would also have been legally protected, even though it is still a case of an overage girl and an underage girl. So yeah, Floridian age of consent laws and statutory rape don't work.
