After biting my tongue for a while now I must share my thoughts on this whole ordeal. I was really impressed during the reveal and thought I was purely set on which console I wanted this generation. But recent news is making the decision hard for me. Unlike most people on the forums here I think Kinect is great. Kinect 1.0 was kind of a letdown, but the new Kinect looked promising.
However, these talks of this so called used game fees and required online check-ins are making this difficult. I understand the devs lose money due to used games, but I just find it difficult to believe that it's substantial enough to warrant such a damaging system in which you can't loan a game to a friend for a few days. On top of that, requiring users to do a routine online "check in" every 24 hours is nothing short of ridiculous. I get that the console depends heavily on the cloud, but they might as well be forcing Gold memberships on everyone now. Not every gamer connects their Xbox to the internet, that's just a fact. While I will be mostly unaffected (since I'm always online anyway), this is a system that I simply cannot support. It's unnecessary.
To buy this console would just present the idea that I, as a consumer, see no wrong in placing these restrictions; which goes entirely against how I feel about them. I thought I'd never see this day come, but I just might be switching to the Playstation 4. Microsoft is going too far.

There's a lot of misinformation being spread around, it might be best to wait until there's more details. None of the fees or the online stuff is really set in stone.
