Why do you assume nothing to be the default state of existence? Perhaps there was always something, no creation needed.

Nothing doesn't need to be created... It's the absence of things. Much like cold is the absence of heat. The question is redundant.

Existence, in some shape or form, has always been. There is no such thing as "nothing" and I shouldn't have to explain why, the definition of the word is justification enough for that statement.
