A husband may be in some trouble with his other half after taking evasive action at a baseball game, leaving his wife in the path of a flying bat.
Houston Astros batter JD Martinez hit a foul ball and lost grip of his bat. It flew towards a couple sitting in the front row. The man, choosing flight over fight, bolted to the aisle for safety. The woman was left to stick her arms out to avoid the bat hitting her right in the face.
She was OK, but it was no thanks to her date.
The story has drawn comparisons with a husband looking to protect his wife from a ball a couple of weeks ago, only to be doused with beer as a thank-you.
Our lady here laughed afterwards and no beers were poured over anyone's head in public, so maybe all ended well? We can't say for sure what happened, though, when the two left the game.
Maybe the woman chewed him out for not being protective enough. Or maybe she agreed with his "every man (or woman) for him/herself philosophy."
The internet of course has its own opinions and — as is usually the case when something like this happens — has declared chivalry dead.
I'm probably not alone on this: I'd rather take a beer bath trying to help out a lady than be the guy mocked online for caring only about himself. Of course, a baseball bat wasn't flying at me as I wrote this.
I don't blame him, if I saw something coming towards me that fast my first thought would be to duck too.

Equal rights.

The first thing to come to most peoples minds is to avoid objects flying at you it's just that her reflexes weren't as good It's not his fault what was he supposed to do just take it to the face? I feel like a feminist wrote this news article.

Edited by Verachi: 6/5/2013 11:44:51 PMDem reflexes, also I blame feminism.
-
Common sense says to avoid large objects flying through the air towards your face, why didn't they both duck?
-
Maybe he thought that feminist would be pissed off at him because the women could've move out of the way
-
Reminds me of this loser

Edited by omg a bannana: 6/5/2013 11:27:10 PMSo men always have to defend women? You sexist pig.
-
He should of caught it like a boss. Free souvenir bro.
-
What's wrong with that? I would've done the same thing. If anything, it's her fault for being to stupid to not get out of the way.
-
Why is this news? "Guy evades bat, woman takes the hit." Do you think if the situation were to be reversed, anyone would give a shit? I can hear the femi n.a.z.is up in arms about this right now lol.
-
It's not his fault, she should have dodged it too.
-
My hero!!
-
She should have reacted as fast as him. Besides getting hit with a flying bat is probably one the least painful things about being an astros fan, I know firsthand about that.
-
Hey guys, women are equal to men unless bats are flying at their faces.
-
Edited by SLAMt4stic: 6/5/2013 10:21:45 PMI doubt he even thought of anything except : "BAT!"
-
I fail to see why this would be an issue. If I saw something flying towards my face I'm not just going to sit there and let it hit me, she should have done the same and moved too; dumb bitch.
-
Why couldn't the woman duck as well? It's a bit hard to stop a spinning bat when it's flying at your face.
-
Instinct? Reflexes? One does not simply deny those.
-
It's just a baseball bat made of wood that breaks apart easily, dude should have put himself in front than put his arms up. Just because chivalry is dead doesn't mean the guy, who clearly sees what's coming, should move out of the way to let her get hit.
-
So? He defended himself.
-
I would try to stop it
-
Messed up. You gotta go for that bat or at least protect your woman.
-
Duck? Man, I'd try and catch it as a souvenir.
-
Stupid lady for not trying to move.

Edited by Bulldozer: 6/5/2013 9:50:29 PMSmart guy. I would do the same. Speaking of, I wouldn't get in the way of death for anyone. I wouldn't take a bullet for anyone or sacrifice myself.
