I'm thinking of getting Minecraft, but before I do, I want to know what I can do in it. Can I realize any artistic vision I want? Are there any limits to what I can do? Could I build the Palace of Versailles or the Empire State Building? Is building tedious or efficient? Are the pieces unlimited, or will I be encountering annoying part limits like in Halo's Forge?
Tell me all about Minecraft, anything notable that comes to mind.
Edit: I've had Minecraft 360 for nearly a year now though, this thread be old

The Minecraft wiki is your friend. You've got 255 blocks of height in which to build. Good, reliable Multiplayer Survival Servers are hard to come by. I was on a single, permanent world server for around two years before it shut down. (And I've got a copy of the map!) Mods can make it more fun. Texturepacks can make it more fun/interesting. BE CAREFUL OF GRIEFERS. You can basically place any block in any fashion you want, like a pixel. Removing blocks takes longer than placing them though. The most important thing is really to have some sort of objective. That is why I quit, I had no idea what to do and no one to show off my stuff to.
