Sixty nine years ago June 6th 1944...thousands of Paratroopers from the U.S., Britain, Poland, Canada, and other allied nations are dropping across all of Normandy, France disrupting German units, sabotaging equipment, and tieing down other German forces.
By the time you wake up tomorrow 100,000's of men from those same countries would have participated in one of the largest fleets ever seen in mankind's history, landing forces would already be storming the beaches at Juno, Sword, Gold, Omaha and Utah beaches. Omaha being especially bloody, and maybe by the time you wake up tomorrow...still hanging on by a thread.
By the time you wake up the next day 10,000 Allied soldiers would be wounded or killed, and about 9,000 Germans, fighting would still be continuing on at the beach exits and some penetrations would have been made in the Germans lines.
Tomorrow I will hopefully be making a huge post, for those interested.
Thank you for reading and take a minute to think on what I have wrote.

Funnily enough I was only a minute away from being born on the 6th. One of my great grandfathers took Sword, as well. I always remember the 6th since the landings were an extraordinary event and were probably the main turning point of the war (though certainly not the first) for the western allies. Also I'm a huge WWII nut, so I do my best to learn as much about Overlord as I can.
