To my understanding, the Wii U is similar in capabilities to the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Why is Destiny being released for those consoles, but not the Wii U?
-
Not really. The Wii U is backward-compatible to the original Wii, meaning that the hardware itself might not really updated and be good enough to run Destiny.
-
Because Wii U is gay

Edited by BBWATT: 8/29/2013 9:39:42 PMThe Wii U will have the necessary installed base for Destiny. Read about the 3DS turn around. The 3DS leads current console sales, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Nintendo is now focusing on the Wii U. Nintendo will soon release Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart 8, Mario 3D and Super Smash Bros. These titles all are system sellers and will likely drive sales for the next eight months. Nintendo has dropped the price of the console and bundled a system selling franchise. Neither the PS4 or XBOX ONE have any significant exclusives during their launch periods unless you've been sold on Kill Zone or RYSE. The Wii U bundle is $160.00 cheaper than a PS4 or XBOX ONE. Which one do you think Mom or Dad is going to buy for the Kids?
-
Wrong Answer!!! Destiny is gonna be profitable on any platform. A lot of Wii U are going to be sold in the next eight months. Nintendo's is dropping some serious system selling games between now, and Destiny's release date. I bet you'll see it on all consoles by then.
-
Bungie is not = to Nintendo.
-
because the wii u sucks
-
At the moment, the Wii U isn't exactly the commercial success the original Wii was.
-
Garbage controller.
-
Because everybody knows wii u sux balls
-
Maybe it's because bungie is already making the game for four consoles.
-
Because who the hell cares. That's why
-
Because the wii u would be crap trying to run that much awesome.
-
Destiny is being published by Activision. Can't Activision commission another developer to do a Wii U port, since Bungie doesn't have the time? Unfortunately they're afraid it won't be profitable on that platform, due to the Wii U's low install base.
-
If you bought your Nintendo wii for anything other than Mario and wii sports... You made a BIG mistake. If You wanted to play next-gen games, you should have gotten a next-gen console.
-
At one point, it was listed for Wii U, but the platform was removed from the list. My preorder poster says 2013, but Bungie isn't getting it finished 'till 2014. They're already running over Activision's expected timeframe. They don't have much time available to port to more platforms, and unfortunately Wii U has the least sales of all the consoles on the market. If they're going to make a fifth version of the game, it's going to be PC, and even that isn't looking promising.
-
cuz nitendo sux
-
Wii u is for a diffrent gaming exp...
-
Out of the 10 people that own a wii U 1 would buy it.
-
The Wii U is far different from the PS3 and Xbox 360. They'd almost have to completely rewrite it from the ground up.
-
I have nothing against Nintendo, but why would bungie bring destiny to the Wii U but not the pc? Wii U would be a gamble. PC wouldn't, for the most part. And if they won't spend the time and money to develop a PC version, odds are they won't make a Wii U version.

Go Wii U Go, When Destiny for Wii U is announced (and it will be) I'm going to pre-order a copy immediately. I bet its currently being developed, but hung up/awaiting Nintendo's blessing/approval process like Call of Duty Ghosts. A Halo like experience without paying for XBOX live or PS Plus. BBWATT

I'm guessing its because they would have to add some gimmick for the controller (similar to Arkham Asylum Armored Edition) or just make it stream what's on the tv and squeeze in room in splitscreen. And no. There isn't any hardware issues.
-
when there are only 160,000 Wii Us floating around out there and a dev is looking at only a percentage of that number as potential customers, the numbers just don't justify tthe development. Even if every Wii U owner bought the game on release-- for a game with a mega budget, perhaps the most expensive game made to date-- 160,000 copies sold on release day would be considered a complete failure. And logic would dictate that every Wii U owner not buy Destiny, making my point even more clear.

Edited by BBWATT: 8/25/2013 5:33:14 PMHi Rick, The Wii U version will likely be announced after Christmas. What your hearing in the press is simply wrong. The Wii U is much faster, it has 4x the memory, a modern CPU and GPU. Don't count Mario out of the game yet. Nintendo's heavy hitting first party titles are about to launch (Donkey Kong, Mario 3D, Zelda WW, and Mario Kart). Bugie is probably waiting until after the Christmas Holiday to make a decision based on Wii U sales which will likely grow exponentially based on Nintendo IP.
