*strokes beard of wisdom* Prove yourself right... No? Well I believe that creation itself is evidence for a higher power. The chances that all this (atoms coming together, reacting and interacting to form stars and planets and people and brains that can interpret electrical signals etc.) could happen all on its own are so astronomically low that without a higher power/intelligence/being, it would be incredibly near impossible. Also, I have seen God at work in my own and other people's lives. A friend of mine had a serious stroke and the doctors gave him days to live. He recovered within the month and was back working after 2. My brother suffered quite seriously from asthma. He went to a Christian event and they had a spontaneous time of healing. Ever since, he's not had any trouble from it. He went to the doctors and they could find no trace of the asthma and could not explain it. Should I go on?

There is a single shred of evidence however, of you being a jackass.

Evidence suggests the existence of a deity can be proved. It cannot. At the same time there is no evidence to suggest otherwise. This is my personal viewpoint.

Edited by brandorobot: 6/11/2013 8:11:42 PMIn the definition of an omnipotent and infallible being, no there is not. But there are those who believe that we are god, and everything around us is god. That god is life and existence itself. By that definition there certainly is evidence, you only need to look at yourself to see it.

Everyone who believes in god is a fool

Consider this: If you think as an Atheist does, you have but two outcomes when you die, because we ALL die, including you: Scenario 1: When you die, you will lose your consciousness. This also implies that everything you ever did is meaningless, and you will never see any of your friends, family, loved ones, pets, etc. ever again. Can you even fathom not having a consciousness? Doesn't feel good to think about that, does it. Surely this is a type of hell. Scenario 2: When you die, there IS an afterlife, and you just spent your earthly existence denying God. Another hell. OR... you could be optimistic, and believe that there IS a God, and that God set up this world in His infinite wisdom to test us and see what we would do out of His presence. This means that you will be together with your family in heaven, and will be able to enjoy a world far better than this one we live in now and everything you did had meaning. On one hand, you have only one of two hells and nothing to gain. On the other, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. The things you can gain by belief include (but are certainly not limited to): Peace, joy, happiness, afterlife, etc... SO. Which of these two options is undeniably better? I think we all know the answer.

Are you insane? Star Wars Battlefront 3 was announced yesterday.

If religious beliefs required evidence, they wouldn't be called "faith"

You must not understand human anatomy very well then. Shame you have disgraced the name of Hal Jordan.

How can I prove you right?
-
There is not a single shred of evidence that a god or gods doesnt exist. Prove me wrong

Burden of proof is on you buddy.

My faith and belief says otherwise.

Edited by Miiji: 6/11/2013 7:12:19 AMOne day, I faced something really horrible... So, I happened to pray, but I didn't pray in the Orthodox, or Catholic or Buddhist way. I simply prayed to the higher being known as God - without a background in faith or interest in religion, I do believe that the spiritual boost I received somehow helped me face the peril and come out unscathed. So... I don't know. Sometimes I ask the same question myself. Is there a god? Or is just faith another tool in a human's arsenal?

No thanks.
