Was anyone else a little 'meh' during that E3 gameplay?

It might've been just me, but it looked more like a Brink sequel than what I thought Destiny would be. Until they made it outside, I wasn't even positive if it was Destiny footage that I was watching, but it got cooler after that, all in all it could look a little better. What'd you think?

  • I agree, I was not wowed by the demo. At the beginning, we see a player enter on a ship, but we got no control of that ship. I wouldn't go so far as to say that means we won't have control of our ships, but I was hoping to see more there. Next, we see the Hunter wave. :/ Finally we get a HUD. Looks like we get the same-ol motion tracker from Halo. I would have liked to have seen, if not a mini-map, at least some sort of mapping feature. Then they are inside, and it's dark, so the warlock deploys his "Ghost". Not sure what that did, because it was still dark for a while. And was the ghost talking? Finally, the lights come up, and we see some action, but there was nothing spectacular about it. Part of that might have been because the Warlock seemed to have terrible aim. Next a boss fight. The Hunter dies, and becomes a floating orb? Revival just warps the player back in? This left more questions for me than answers. Loot! This was the highlight at this point. We got to see how drops work. Looks like loot is another glowing orb, and once picked up, the item is actually revealed. I'm guessing this is so that each player can get something appropriate to them, without having to have each piece of loot out on the battlefield. I like it. We also got a look at the menus and weapon progression. More of this please. No friendly fire, as expected. Finally the public event. This was the high point of the demo for me, and I definitely want to know more about how players are brought into/join a public event. How often do they occur? Are there other types of events? All in all, for a 12 min video, it didn't really get interesting until about 7 min in.
