Why is this intel cpu more expensive than this AMD cpu?

I currently have a custom computer with this AMD cpu. A friend of mine is asking for advice on a CPU but wants Intel brand, I found this one with similar specs (cores, frequency, cache) to the AMD chip, but it costs $100 more. Why? Also any recommendations are welcome

  • Intel has a better Architecture. The intel cpu out performs the AMD cpu by miles. The AMD cpus is still great though. Really great processor but the intel one is better.

    • Clock speed =/= performance by quite a long way anymore. Check out some benchmarks between the two CPUs and you'll quickly see why the intel one is more expensive. Is it worth the extra expense? Probably not.

    • I'm not an expert on this, but I believe the prevailing opinion is that Intel gives you the best performance, even when specs are similar. If you're considering price point for relatively cheap chips (i.e., what's the best I can get for cheap?) then the winner is AMD.
