Careers page.

How often do you check out the careers page (if you check it at all)? As someone who wants to work in the gaming industry after college, I find this page to be a very useful tool. If I see a position that seems interesting (and something I may be good at), I click it and look at the requirements. This is a good way to learn what I have to work for if I ever want to work for Bungie, or any company for that matter. Although Bungie is my first choice.. So, do you ever check it out? If so, how often?

  • Of course I do. Being a computer science major concentrating in video game design, I often come to the career page to remind myself what is the most important. Ever since playing Halo 2 it has been a dream of mine to work for Bungie. There are some other companies that I would work for, but it was always Bungie that made me dream of creating games, and it would be the greatest pleasure and the utmost honor to work for them. Now my life has come to the point where I will strive to make that dream come true. So yes, I do look at the career page because hopefully, someday soon, I will looking for a job in the video game industry, and Bungie has always and forever been my number one choice.

    • I regularly do. I always want to apply for the Economy Designer position. But, just being out of college, I do not have enough experience to be worthy of their acceptance.

    • Im always looking back to it in hopes. Im just finishing a two year A-level course in games development, which was more focused on the aspects of level design, universe concept, model design and industry marketing/research and I felt as if it wasnt really helpful into getting onto any university courses or even providing me with the understanding of what area of the games industry I want to put the rest of my life into. Unfortunately, it is a fairly new course for us and so is far from being provided with the budget and understanding it needs to help future candidates fully understand the industry and what they need to do to get involved. Fortunately, the bungie careers page, although way ahead of me, does set out plain and simple, what you need to be considered in a career path and what that path entails. I not only use it because I would love to work for Bungie in the future, but also as a form of research into my career options.

    • I've been checking the careers page several times a week since '08 or so. I want an HSE job to open up. My husband and I already agreed that, if one of use got a job at Bungie, we would go. No matter what.

    • It is a bit sad to look at. I've made many choices in my life, I've tried to think with my head and heart, but things just went the way they did I suppose. I may have always dreamed of working at Bungie, but I my life is taking me down a different career path.

I look at it every so often just to remind myself of the kinds of awesome jobs that come with getting an education. But I've got years till I have to think about career choice, and even what college I'll be going to; I've still got three years of High School to go.

      • What's the point, if you go and contact them, you look desperate. I turned a job down from Microsoft not long ago, £15.000 a month for 25 hours a week, working from home, since then others have been contacting me. I'm off to make sure my Russian and America friends have completed our new bios project for the Sony Vaio range, and then off to make another custom firmware for the PS3. They couldn't pay me for it, most people are happy to do it for free now. When they pay you, it only means they own your work. Beta testing is fun too. Try that for a bit, at least you can put that one on a CV.

      • Every month or so! But keep in mind, Bungie is still hiring, regardless if the studio is full or not!

      • I check the page fairly regularly because like a couple others have said, Bungie is what drove me to pursue a career in the games industry in the first place. I don't think there is or will be another studio I'd like to work at more, heck I even flew from Australia to try break into the industry in the vein hopes of one day being able to work there. Alas, there are thousands more talented and experienced people out there who want the same exact thing. Really fills me with jealousy when reading the breaking in articles where people say they got a job at Bungie without prior experience or right out of college.... Ah well, gotta keep swimming.

      • Same I check all the time, next year I apply for University so I look at the things that Bungie puts up so I can see what I would need to be in the industry. So I look at the courses at the University, and see what they like like also what programming languages I should learn.

      • I look at it every once in a while even though I'll probably never work in the industry. It's fun thinking about different paths of life.

      • I check the careers page quite often. And for other studios as well. I'm in the middle of a games development degree so it's cool to read over the requirements and nice-to-have skills now and again, like you said. I like to use it as sort of a road map of what I should be looking into, if it's not already covered by my course.

      • When I was coming out of highschool I check it regularly and kept rechecking it to see what I wanted to do as a career. I still go back there every now and again, it's a great source for knowledge on the required skills for the gaming industry.
