Microsoft will seal the deal against Sony doing this

If Microsoft does offer, let's say a year of Gold with their consoles, Sony is done. Especially if they rewrite their Live policies and allow for more flexibility in their memberships.

  • I don't think it will "seal the deal", but given that PS4 is 100$ cheaper as of now, there is no question that Microsoft needs to add more value to their bundle - either by offering a SKU without Kinect for 400$ (won't happen) or by including a game/headset/XBL Gold in their current SKU. Clearly many people do not think the Xbone is 'great value', so I am curious to see what MS does in the future in terms of adding more value/sticking to their guns.

    • True, there will be many many people who would find this alluring enough to purchase an Xbox One and even probably go from a PS4 to it. If Sony doesn't fight back with the same. This console war may actually just improve both consoles with each company trying to top the other in how consumer friendly they can be. Good for us.

    • I don't know why everyone is still hung up on the $100 price difference. Microsoft made a smart decision packaging all consoles with the Kinect because developers now know that everyone who has an xbox one will have a kinect, meaning the features will be more integrated and a hell of a lot less gimicky. Will all developers add kinect features? No. Will the kinect xbox combination be better overall? Yes. How many pictures have you seen with the Playstation 4 and their camera in the same picture? More than one, meaning they will be pushing it as well, but it's going to be a gimmick since not everyone is going to own one, meaning all the games for it are most likely going to blow balls...again. How does this relate? Well, the Xbox One has cheaper hardware according to everyone who posts about the technological advantage that the PS4 has, so it should be the same price or cheaper, right? No, the Xbox comes with the Kinect meaning it has to account for that cost, adding the $100.00. From the way Microsoft has been speaking, they are NOT going to undersell their console. So I'm thinking they are either breaking even at this price, or making a very small amount on each console, whereas the PS4 supposedly uses better tech, meaning it should have a higher price point. Granted, there is some speculation in there, but from what I've heard, the GDDR5 RAM alone in the PS4 should be making a price difference, as in the more expensive sense. I read in an article somewhere they only manufactured it in 512MB sticks, so that means they have to put 16 in each console to have 8GB of RAM. Doesn't sound cheap to me, meaning either Sony is digging a hole for itself, or it has cut some corners to compete pricewise with Microsoft. Neither of those is a good situation. Again, speculation, I have no hard facts, this is what I've gleaned from listening to everything that has been said. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

      • Except PSN is only 5 dollars a month and is 1000x better than Xbox Live Gold.

        • $399 against $499. To suggest the most expensive console on the market has any deal sealed is outlandish.

          • If by seal the deal you mean pull even, I think you may be right.

            • That article it's exagerated, sony still haves the cheapest console and better hardware Yearly price for PS+ is $49.99 , so its a little bit less than 5 bucks per month (49.99/12), and as a bonus PS+ gives you free games every month (Right now PS3, PSVita and psp games), i doubt that at start they will give free PS4 games but atleast you get the discount from ps+ If i get an Xbox one, it will be only for the exclusives
