I know everyone here has seen the E3 demo, and some fanatics like myself at least a dozen times. But connecting to the Vanguard, if you remember at the start of the "Public Event" before that pocket of Old Russia became a warzone a sort of notification with the Vanguard logo showed up. Which made me think, "So the vanguard is like a working real-time info transmitter for the guardians? Cool!" But now based off of what DeeJ said about becoming a Vanguard it suddenly dawned on me. That a Vanguard is probably the one responsible for getting members of a fireteam together at one specific location to take on those events in public areas! With those particular perks I would say that a Vanguard would have to be acknowleged by a bungie official, or by other members in the community. Or maybe there are a set of quests to take on concerning those dotted patterns. Its hard to tell but one thing I feel is certain is that Vanguards will have an even effect on leading than others.

Accompanied with the prestigious Vanguard title will be noticeable/recognizable gear. New class abilities would not be out of the question due to the Vanguard role.

Vanguard in simplified terms is a prestigious title.

Im guessing its not a class but a special elite group of guardians that u have to work ur butt off to join..

I don't know why, but I keep wanting the Vanguard to be that Space City Ship from the concept art

Some thing else I thought up. What if becoming a Vanguard would mean you'd get a particular accessory like a cloak for the hunter, gauntlets for the Titan, and a helm for the Warlock? I don't know...
