Hello everyone, I'm here to ask you a very "deep" question...well, not really. It's more sci-fi. Actually, it's more just scientific...meh, forget it.
What's your favorite theory when it comes to the creation of our universe, or rather, what the universe really is? It could be anything, even one you made up.
My personal favorite, not necessarily the one I believe but in my mind the most interesting, is that we're in a "Matrix" like universe, except our controllers are past humans who invented the ultimate Sims game, and eventually we will too, in an infinite loop.
Alright, your turn, go!

M-Theory I guess. Though it could probably just be considered String Theory in regards to this thread for simplicity's sake.

Edited by GKR: 6/30/2013 1:50:20 AMThis doesn't go in to universe origins, but it's somewhat relevant to the topic of the universe itself. My theory is that all possible man-made decisions, natural occurrences, and evolutionary paths have existed in various universes, making up a multiverse. This resolves the moral issue of "why do bad things happen to good people" or other similar philosophical gripes. Because of many universes, good and evil outcomes must exist in order to form a complete multiverse. But this is just my BS.

The one that says that the actual universe is infinite, as is matter and energy. I'm pretty sure that's generally accepted to be false, but I like the thought that everything we can imagine is out there, somewhere.

Honestly, anything is possible. I always thought it would be interesting if the universe was actually created by aliens, and that they control what happens, (supernova, stars being born, life evolving on different planets). I'm pretty sure that the big bang is much more likely, but anything is possible.

I haven't heard many theories, but I can tell you which one I hate. I hate the theory that suggests the whole universe is in merely one cell in just person in this earth and that other universes that exist are simply a different cell in a different person.

Mine is similar to that, OP, but we're just advanced AI in an alien sim.
-
I like to think that we're in the cats collar from Men in Black.

Pizza! Pizza! (The one where Carl Sagan flopped his penis onto r/atheism and a neckbearded fedora fell from the sky, exploded, and the universe was created)

Matrix.

Big bang to Big Crunch Cyclical.

Matrix/simulation.
