Honestly, this movie did almost everything right. All of the nostalgic callbacks were done perfectly and the story line was superb with nice little nods for classic Star Trek fans throughout. Cumberbatch is excellent and steals every scene he's in. He continues to remind me that I need to get to watching Sherlock.
What'd you guys thing of the movie? Appraisals? Qualms? Love it? Hate it? Rating out of 100? I personally think it deserves much higher than the 87 or 88 it's sitting at on RottenTomatoes and significantly higher than the 73 it has on Metacritic.

I considered creating a dedicated thread, but felt more comfortable slipping it in to an existing discussion, rather than it being the object of it (as it's a long read). People can always like this post and keep it at the top if interested.
Noting your focus on Rotten Tomatoes/Metacritic, I ended up giving Star Trek 3*s and Into Darkness 4*s. Initially I had it at 4.5*s, in order to better distinguish its significant improvement over the original, but I ended up editing it down, as I wasn't completely sure so erred on the side of caution. I hate the need to boil down to ratings, seeing as they are so subjective. A 7 might seem good to one person, while another will look at nothing less than 9 (it doesn't help every half-decent triple A hits this now, leading to score inflation perception). Anyway, I'm ranting. Please feel free to give it a read, and let me know of your views. You can also yell at me too, Crazzy, if you think it should have been kept at 4.5.
