Recently i downloaded all the GBA games for my Ambassador thing for 3DS. One of those games just so happened Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Curious, since I hear about the great success of these games in Japan, I started playing it.
I must say, this is a pretty damn good game. I adore strategy RPG's and Fire Emblem has it just right. I now want to go out and get FE: Awakening.
So question: What's your opinion on the Fire Emblem series? Have you played any of them?

I thoroughly enjoyed Awakening Let me say this: The Avatar (your created unit) can be broken as all hell if you make him/her right. My Setup was this (I'll be referring to her by the name I gave her, Shana) First I made her a Mercenary to get Armsthrift, a skill which gives you a percent chance to not use up a weapon charge determined by your luck stat * 2 meaning if you have 50 luck you can use a weapon infinitely (the luck cap is 48 if you aren't paired up with a unit) after I got her to 10, I'd make Shana into a thief, then into an assassin Assassin's are pretty damn powerful and their avoidance is THROUGH THE ROOF. Example: I had her and Chrom (The character I had her marry, who is also the other main character) do a fight alone just for shits and giggles. and I paired them up. They didn't land a single blow on her and she slaughtered them all. Seriously. The only time she was in any real danger was if an enemy had Counter, but that can easily be bypassed with a bow, (Assassins can use Swords and bows) Assassin's get a skill called Lethality at 15 (Remember Colm's crit which insta killed? That's Lethality) At 20, they get Pass. (They can move thru enemies) Also, If you have a child, they obtain the most recent skill the mother and father had. All in all, I'd recommend getting it Oh right, and Fredrick is your Seth. (Not sure if Seth was in Sacred Stones)

its a very good series, very strategic and has a great story

Sacred Stones is the easiest one in my opinion. Even at the last boss...Fortimis? My favorite is FE: Path of Radiance. Still have my copy and last time I checked a year ago an opened working copy was selling for 70+ USD.

I love Fire Emblem, but the new 3D character models and art design weirds me out. I can't play the newer ones.

Played Fire Emblem (first one released in US, just called Fire Emblem), Sacred Stones, and am now devouring Awakening. This series is just ossim. I highly recommend you give this Fire Emblem a try. It lacks some of the smoother gameplay features (like choices on what class you upgrade to, being able to fight monsters in random battles to level up your lesser units) but has better characters and a much better story IMO.
#gaming please.
On topic, i have Fire Emblem Awakening, put like 150 hours into it before i decided to stop and take a break for awhile, but it's pretty good. I tried finding Path of Radiance for my Gamecube since i'm playing some older games on that recently too, but i can't seem to find a copy, otherwise personally Awakening was the first FE game i played and it was great.

Sacred Stones was by far my favorite FE game, and if I could find my old GBA with the game I'd still play it.

I love FE. Definitely one of my favorite series. Own all the US ones, except for Path of Radiance and Awakening.
