Nevermind any of the consoles that were released before during and after that had nothing to do with Nintendo. Sega was arguably the better system alongside Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64.

 • I don't really like saga there is way to many extremely annoying games for it and it's hard to pick good games out of the group

 • if it was better it wouldn't have gotten out of the console business ,whilst Nintendo has been in it nearly thirty years . and yes their were others , but as I said it was the main reason , not the only one , the fact is it was best-selling gaming console of its time, and the NES helped revitalize the US video game industry following the video game crash of 1983 and set the standard for subsequent consoles of its generation. With the NES, Nintendo introduced a now-standard business model of licensing third-party developers, authorizing them to produce and distribute software for Nintendo's platform. and for your information the snes out sold the sega genesis , and the 64 gave us goldeneye , which revolutionized the fps genre . your move sega fanboy.

 • The Nes and the Wii are two different consoles. Same developers but two different consoles. Don't confuse the two.. They are NOT the same thing. For that matter another factor is the era in between the fine lines. Nintendo may have started todays generation but the graphics and gameplay have fallen significantly behind. The physical movement was a pro but the cons outweigh the pros.

 • I disagree on the gameplay , its core games have never suffered gameplay wise . ill let the hardware slide because there is truth in that , but don't ever accuse them of making lackluster games.

 • Lol hardly a Sega fanboy. I agree with your "respect your elders" standpoint but its important to respect them all. Sega had some monumental breakthroughs but ultimately fell victim to itself with its odd marketing approach of adding onto the original genesis both with billions of add ons. It also had a lot of weird marketing schemes that left a bad taste in consumers mouths. Sega dreamcast was arguably the console that set the stage for modern gaming, but ultimately the infrastructure required for its success wasn't yet in place. On a side note I think Nintendo spent so long at the top I think they lost site and started doing there own thing. It works in its limited fanbase, but it has strayed so far from the seat of power it used to have that it really isn't taken seriously by a large percentage of the consumer and developer market. I'm really waiting for them to go the way of Sega once their fans realize they've purchased Mario, Mario cart, and Zelda for the twentieth time.

 • the reason Nintendo survives even though its not considered the top of the pyramid anymore is because of its status as an innovator in the industry and has made revolutionary advancements. motion sensing controls had been deemed by everyone to be a failure after its own virtual boy failed , but they gave it another decade and boom , it made the wii the most sold of the last gen, it made such an impact that it spurred on sony and Microsoft to try their hands at it , though by most people ive talk to their verisons have turned out to be gimmicky and not as intuitive as Nintendo's.

 • I have a virtual boy sitting not 10 feet from me and don't remember it having motion controls. Ill have to investigate. Although I agree the motion controlled Wii was an interesting twist to game I'd be a bad gaming history fan If didn't notice the parallel between a focus on peripherals before console death with Sega and Nintendo. I'd have more respect (currently) for Nintendo if they didn't release a next gen console with 1/4 of the power of its peers and (time will tell) possibly 1/4 of the game library due to its lack of third party support. Unfortunately you can't rest on your laurels of being an industry leader and innovator. That being said the Wii is the best Netflix streaming device I've used. Had they put a DVD player in it then it would have easily accomplished the goal Xbox one is aiming for. I'm also a fan of the quality you can expect from Nintendo hardware; the aforementioned virtual boy powers on and runs with no problems what so ever. In m experience the cords will crumble apart long before the console even skips a beat.

 • Ok, I'll try to express myself (I'm not english): About the Wii and his revolutionaries advancements on motion control, it's true that functioned, but I think that they could have made a better use in some type of games like Shooters, where it was awsome. Now they have implemented a Pad, which can revolutionaire the RPG/Tactic games like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy. In all I think that we (consumers) have to give a oportunitie to the Wii U, which can do better that what have done till now. Regards.

 • I respect you're opinion, but the problem is other big first person shooters have sold 10 +\- million copies on ps3 and Xbox 360 (each) whereas they've sold less than 1 million on Wii. Multiply that by their typical price tags for a new game and you disparity is worse. Yes the Wii and Wii-U has some interesting ways to interact with games, but consumers would need to starting buying 1000% more shooters on the Wii-U to demonstrate to developers that they'll buy those games on that console. (Probably a 500% increase in sells would be good enough, but either number is still unlikely)
