Haven't seen any post on this, but sorry if there is one.
Anyway:
Microsoft is currently running an Xbox 360 update beta designed to test the upcoming switch from Microsoft Points to real currency.
However, according to some reports, the conversion rates employed by Microsoft are leaving some users short changed.
When those taking part in the beta attempt to buy new content over Xbox live all of their remaining MSP are immediately converted into local currency, without warning.
One of the problems with this is that if you have 1200 MSP and want to buy a 1200 MSP game, once those points are converted into real currency, you don’t have enough to actually buy the game.
Put simply, your MSP are worth less now.
Here’s a breakdown of the conversion rates:
1600 MSP games now cost £14.99; but 1600 MSP previously converted to around £13.33
1200 MSP games now cost £11.99, but 1200 MSP previously converted to around £10
800 MSP games now cost £8.99, but 800 MSP previously converted to around £6.66
400 MSP games now cost £4.49, but 400 MSP previously converted to around £3.33
This may be subject to change
Thoughts?
For me it's classic M$, but then again it's not that unsurprising with conversion rates.

Actual prices are good. If something costs 1200 msp (roughly $12-15), I don't want to have to buy a $20 1600 card for it. Just let me pay the exact price. As someone said though, this looks like a bug.
-
Just thought of this...
-
This was already stated by Microsoft that is was a mistake and they will refund the money people lost.
-
Inflation people.. Prices go up while the value of the dollar goes down
-
so... instead of MS point cars or XBL cards, it's walmart gift cards?
-
*Guy says you are in a beta* *Complains about something...IN A BETA* Seems legit guys
-
Most American companies tend to -blam!- up the conversion rates. This will probably get fixed, however.
-
MS did this because there Greedy. They like to steal money from wallets not take it from consumers for good things. Hell even the XboxOne looks like a Money Eating machine, that you cant put vertically, and that has a Kinect Required Feature.
-
Well it is a beta, and I don't see what the fuss is over a $1-$2 difference. I actually thought the prices were cheaper now that I can see how much something costs in real currency. I don't have to spend $20 on points for something that doesn't require that much, and have an odd number of points floating around.
-
Okay guys it's beta there are mistakes that happens in beta that why is a beta not the actual thing so calm down
-
I can understand it since they often do sales on the points. I've never bought points of Live subscriptions that weren't at least 25% off. Not to mention that the points are designed to cheat consumers in the first place (those random 5-95 points left over from transactions).

This is just a result of real-world currency use. The prices have to be pushed up because Microsoft isn't directly making money from Microsoft Points sales anymore; similar to PSN's prices.
-
I'm guessing this is just a European thing.
-
I haven't encountered this problem and i have signed up for the beta.
-
For me it's classic M$
>Hasn't ruled out an error. (It's a Beta) >Still blames MS.
-
I'm glad it's only at the beta testing level right now.
-
I was curious about the beta, then I read the ToS. I'm glad that I didn't actually sign up.
-
Yet another reason I'm so glad I'm no longer invested in Microsoft's platform.
-
Does tge UK use Pounds or Euros? Because if it's Euros then those change value daily anyways.
-
Well it is a Beta so these things happen but still that sucks.
-
So it doesn't affect someone in America, correct?
-
The UK is always getting shafted, I mean really? We have a stronger currency than everybody else that shouldn't mean we can pay more.
-
...can we agree "-blam!- M$"?
-
When those taking part in the beta attempt to buy new content over Xbox live all of their remaining MSP are immediately converted into local currency, without warning.
They were told that their points would be converted. I knew my points would be converted when I signed up for the beta.

The price hike is only for UK beta testers. Their exchange rate calculator must be broken.
