Spread your wings. (Fan Fiction Contest)

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for us writers to take center stage for a time. The Black Garden as well as our friends over in Arts and Stuff are going to host a contest that is solely devoted to writers. The rules are simple. For any who wish to enter, you are tasked with writing a short little anecdote that is to have a maximum of 300 words. The location for this piece of work is to be located in the picture provided above. The deadline for entering is this Sunday(14th) at midnight. For any who wish to enter, please submit your stories by placing them in the comments. Judging will be done in two phases. The first phase will consist of a Panel of both groups reading over each story and deciding which seven are the best of the best. Once the first stage is complete, we shall hand it over to you, the audience, to decide who is ranked number one as lore master. The Winner of this contest shall receive a print of the Buried City signed by the Destiny writing team. Good luck and Be Brave.

A lone hunter peered off into the distance at the buried city of mars. He was separated from his fire team a while back but knew they were to rendezvous here. Upon seeing activity inside the nearest building, an old station, he chose to investigate. "Jess! Eric!" Maybe they couldn't hear his call over the strong winds. The hunter had no choice but to enter the building. His footsteps echoed loudly in the halls, and lights dimly flickered around him. "I must've been seeing things, this place is deserted." He was about to turn back when he finally heard rustling coming from the next room. "...Guys?" The rustling grew louder and fear struck the poor hunter's face. Turning around in an instant, he sprinted towards the entrance of the old station. The rustling now grew to a deafening thunder of footsteps. He drew his gun as he finally made it outside and aimed it at the entrance, while a powerful, blinding dust storm swirled around him. "What's going on? Cabal don't move this fast." At the first sight of the alien threat moving out the doorway, the hunter threw a grenade, then unloaded his ammunition at the doorway. He could finally make out an image of his foe through the hazy dust storm. "The fallen? What are they doing here?" The swarm of aliens grew as his bullets were quickly getting outnumbered. They made it through the doorway and bounded towards him, guns blazing. The hunter threw his last grenade and turned to run away, but the storm slowed him down. A pain struck his leg and he fell to the ground. The fallen were almost upon him. BOOM! Alien carcasses fly everywhere. The hunter smiled as he looked up and saw a large, familiar silhouette through the sand.
