I'm pretty sure Precursors are invincible. Can anyone guide me to a Star Wars equivalent of them?

They more or less infected themselves with Flood in an effort to store themselves.

A) Because the Precursors didn't fight back. They simply observed the destruction the Forerunners were capable of. And their dominion stretches across the universe. Forerunners didn't come close to destroying them all. What did, however is... B) The way they tried to store themselves for extended periods of time. It was the Flood. Unfortunately, the Flood, well, did what Flood does, and pretty much deformed every one of them.

But if they were invincible surely the flood never would have killed them?

They used the Flood to store themselves for extended periods of time. They opened up to them (the Flood was created by them after all) and didn't foresee the results. Hell, the Flood didn't kill them, in actuality. Moreover just turned them into hollow shells of their former selves.

Nope. They're buildings were invincible to everything but the Halo rings, so the Forerunners were able to wipe them out.

All of the Precursors got wiped out by the Forerunners (I think...I haven't studied up on Halo lore in awhile).

Now that I think about it, they made themselves weaker to try to get revenge. What the -blam!-, precursors.

They didn't do it deliberately. The dust that they became turned viral after a long time and eventually became the disease that is The Flood.

Erm, no they didn't. They made themselves weaker when they tried to encapsulate themselves for storage. The Flood basically killed them all.
