The democratic party all throughout history HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE PARTY THAT BLOCKED CIVIL RIGHTS FOR OTHER RACES!!!!
I am sick of the absolute lies being taught to children!
The civil rights movement was not carried by democrats, it was nearly killed by them!
They performed a 125 hour filibuster to try and stop the signing of the civil rights act!
So many damn lies, I am sick of liers!
How about we start hearing some actual truth damn it!

How about you learn to format your posts correctly so that people can actually value your opinion?

Its the polarization thats changed. The difference between democrats and republicans was never as segregated as it is today. People did whats best for the country as opposed to what was best for the party. Today politicians will just block a bill because of its party affiliation as opposed to what it does for the country. Its like political gamesmanship. On a us forum a post by ebowed said it best "Among the liberals trying to seize the Democratic nomination in 1972 were George McGovern, Hubert Humphrey, and Edmund Muskie. McGovern believed abortion should be left up to the states. Humphrey flatly said "I'm not for it." Muskie: "It compromises the sanctity of human life." McGovern's original running mate, Missour Senator Tom Eagleton, was a very pro-life Catholic. I doubt there'd ever be a guy like that on a Democratic national ticket these days." Could you imagine one party today having different opinions for the same topic? Its so polarized now that if you disagree with ANYTHING that a party stands for its like demon worship. Sad really all it does is hurt the country

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. The majority of the Democratic Party was in favor of the Civil Rights Acts.
-
But seriously, the democrats were liberal in the 1960s. You may know a man named John F. Kennedy? He was a democrat from Massachusetts that helped end segregation in the conservative south. Clearly you don't even know what the Civil Rights Movement is.
