It isn't really the anonymity of it though. I see people post dumber shit on Facebook than I do on message boards. This is why features like ignoring and muting are saving graces.
Bungie.net seems to have a younger demographic than forums where picture threads are generally good-natured and encouraging, and that's usually who you'll find making those comments.
It isn't just B.net either - anywhere a person can make a comment, there will be some unappealing language to both genders.
I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you don't believe any of it.
Your role as a moderator enables you immediately ban this user from messaging (bypassing the report queue) if you select a punishment.
