I don't believe that for a second. You don't think they acknowledge they're making a comment which could hurt someone's feelings when saying they're unattractive and whatnot? Of course they do. They WANT to be hurtful. There's no way of justifying saying mean things to someone themselves, you clearly want to hurt their feelings.

I know several males who have done this in real life and didn't realise it was wrong until they were called out on it; they thought it was a joke/funny conversation. Edit: Please don't think that I condone or acquit anyone like that, it is their willful ignorance that is at fault.
