Honest question here: You know that the default, err, state of being, for people on the internet is assumed to be male, so why tell people otherwise if not for attention? I'm sure it must suck having to conceal your identity just to use the internet, but i'm not sure if this (for lack of a better term) brick-to-the-face-progress even works.
