"Different personality". You know, I put it like that too, but I don't think it's like, "Okay, I'm on the Internet, so I'm going to manually put on this mask". The mask just automatically comes on. And it's not really a "different" personality. It's still you, and I'd argue it's the youest you of all. If you want to see a man's true colors, give him power or authority, and see how he treats his inferiors, or perceived inferiors.

Subordinates or those in a lesser positions of power would have made that sound a lot less offensive. "His inferiors"? That makes it sound like the man in question would be committing atrocities right from the beginning.

I get what you mean, and I agree. I tend to go beyond the restraint I'd show in-person simply because there really are no consequences. If I, for some reason, lost my shit and went on a giant rant here, I could walk away or make an alt and never see consequences. But yeah, you're right that this personality is probably more real than the one we show day-to-day.
