So why are they considered two distinct ideologies?
I'm sure you've admitted to being slightly conservative. Could be wrong though.

Anyway, all forms of social anarchism inevitably lead to communism. True communism is anarchic, but the difference is that 'mainstream' communists are Marxians and believe in a centralised proletariat state during the era of pre-communist socialism. Anarcho-communists don't believe in this state and think communism should be established as soon as both capitalism and the state fall. Anarcho-syndicalists and anarcho-collectivists believe in a sort of moneyless, decentralised socialism after the state and capitalism fall as a sort of buffer. But these ideologies ultimaely advocate communism as the end goal. Hope that helps.
