So is Sabretooth (the guy who looked like a lion in the first Xmen film) really Wolverine's brother like it says in Xmen Origins: Wolverine, or did they just make that story up for the sake of the film?

They are metaphorical brothers, as in they have been longtime friends, since they barely age, and have known each other for ages.
