Behold - The Forerunner Capital!
It was quite a struggle to decrypt Mr. Bear's description of the thing, but this is what I ended up with. And I feel it turned out to be quite the sight.
My other pieces related to Forerunners, taken from the pages by Greg Bear, for those of you who haven't already seen them: Forerunner Anatomy and armor v.1 and v.2; The Primordial.

You best send this to 343.

Dude that's -blam!-ing great!
-
Holy shit, that's insanely good. I always pictured it like an onion and its skins, but maybe I was doinitrong. Not to call out your canonical interpretation over your artistical skill, of course.
-
I hope someone at Bungie sees these and brings peoples attention to you. You have an amazing talent for making words visual in a way that seams familiar and fitting to a universe of lore. I'd like to see you become a concept artist :)
-
Awesome work! Can I use this as my desktop wallpaper?
-
Impressive. What's that ball thing?
-
Man, I'd love to explore that in a sequel.
-
absorbing.
-
No, its actually the Citadel. We still havent discovered the Mass Relays yet
-
Looks like a CD collection... Awesome though!
-

You aren't kidding about the description of the thing. I'm glad we came to the same conclusion of how it looks! Great piece there, very good work.
-
Dude that is awesome, great job!
-
Kewl. Good work. I'm waiting for more.
-
What happened to the forerunner city that bungie never finished?
-
Wow, that's neat. Nice job, man.
-
I always thought the discs were around each other and not stacked. Looks good though. Darn good.
-
I love the space background
-
Huh, I always imagined the capital to be a disk with two domes on the side. Still nifty.

Edited by Citrus raptor: 7/29/2013 8:58:01 PMAs OP and I have been through; figuring out exactly how it's supposed to look isn't the easiest of things. Bear didn't do a good enough job at describing it if you ask me:
Imagine a planet a hundred thousand kilometers in diameter, sliced latitudinally like one of Riser's favorite fruits. Allow those slices to drop in parallel against a plate. The slices are then pierced through their lower rims with a stick, the plate is removed, and the slices are fanned out in a half-circle. Now decorate each slice, like a round stair step, with an almost infinitely dense array of structures, and surround it with golden swarms of ransports and Sentinels and a dozen other verieties of security patrols, thick as fog. . . .

My domicile, on the outskirts of the equatorial disk-city, bore the Council's ausere yet supremely comfortable hallmark.
I like the result though. Can imagine a lot of amazing frames from within and around it.
