Previously on Super Good Advice, we wondered how Bungie might ground Destiny's game modes within its universe. But just how engaging will this universe have to be to keep us interested?
Bungie's "Pillars of Destiny" in their GDC panel this spring outlined the struggles they'd face in this transition. What sorts of mysteries, adventures, enemies, and game modes would need to populate this world to keep it fresh and replayable?
What will Destiny need for you to quench your thirst for 10 years?

Story is hard. A great story can resonate with a person forever, but it doesn't mean they'll be engaged with it forever. It takes a lot of work to keep lore as an active part of a game. To a certain extent, fan derivatives will sustain themselves, but those hardly reach beyond their own border. On the other hand, a well built multiplayer can be timeless. You don't need huge updates. It doesn't have to be super fancy. If the core is good, you'll only ever need minor tweaks at the most. Street Fighter's still kicking strong after ages.
