So I've finally completed Metal Gear Rising
Positives:
-Great OST
-Somme of the best boss fights in the series
-Really fun to destroy enemies once you've fully leveled up your sword, hell it's just a fun game in general
-My HIV test
Negatives:
-Alot shorter than the other Metal Gear games
-Why doesn't Rose make an appearance, I mean she's an important aspect of Raiden, just like the boss is an important aspect of Big Boss
-While it's got it's few referneces to the main metal gear solid universe (The whole SOP thing, Sunny, a reference to otacon and solid snake over the codec) I just kinda wish more people made an appearance. The PMC Raiden works for, that would surely have been one of those things Otacon would have joined. You know, fighting for the work and peace.
-The story, what heppens, kinda shits all over the fight against the patriots we all did in 4. Everything Raiden did, Everything Snake did, everythign EVA and Ocelot did to put down the patriots. It was all for nothing as the war economy is still going on
Nowadays it's like £10-£20 (or it's equivalent in other currencies) and at that price you should defintiely buy it.

I thought it was long enough. I actually found it just about as long as MGS 1, 2 and 4, not counting cutscenes. I don't think MGS4's story was very good anyway, so it doesn't bother me all that much that Rising's story essentially invalidated it.

Skip to 4:40 if you want to get to get what I'm referring to. That's one thing I actually like about Rising - it is thematically consistent in many ways. I agree with your gripe about the characters though. Platinum Games wanted to leave their own mark, so they created a whole new support crew, instead of using a combination of old and new characters. I would have liked to see Otacon and Dr. Madnar on the support crew instead, but whatever.

4 RepliesIf it wasn't for Duke Nukem Forever, Revengeance would be my least favorite game ever. Terrible pacing, a forced-in stealth mechanic, no unique enemies (except bosses that get reused for a boss rush, lazy), etcetcetc. I wouldn't play it again if I was payed to.
