Germany has tonnes of manufacturing and brewing businesses that are branching out into the United States. Anyone who needs a job and actually wants to earn a decent amount of money would be stupid to not want to learn German and sign up for such businesses.
German economy > the rest of Europe > United States
Thus, Americans should learn German in school instead of Spanish or French.
French is a shit language spoken by arrogant dirty whore pigs in a disgusting and ugly country. Nothing of use comes from the French that you cannot get at a higher quality (and probably cheaper) from Germany.
Spanish is spoken by some of the poorest and least educated people in the world. Do you Americans REALLY want to talk to immigrants that are too ignorant to learn the language you speak before they come to your country?
Also, German is similar enough to English that learning it would, for the most part, be easier than learning French or Spanish.
Oh, and German chicks are hot.

And when Germany starts up WWIII, we'll be able to beg for our lives.
-
The German language is abhorrent. I can't listen to it without it grating on my nerves.
-
Latin or Greek would be the most useful languages, since basically every European language stems from one or the other (or both).
-
German engineering, nigah More powerful than anything else on Earth

Edited by Atomic Tea: 12/1/2013 9:04:30 PMI'd say learn Mandarin since China is basically gonna conquer the world in like, 5 years anyway.
-
German is far superior to all those other European languages.
-
Nien! All of you talk angry anyway, so why do I want to learn German?
-
Ich habe Deutsch schon gelearnt.
-
I like french

I'd rather speak Swedish
-
If there are any languages Americans need to learn, they're Mandarin and Cantonese. And I didn't realize people spoke French in the US outside of Louisiana or on the border with Quebec.

Edited by Sup Ladies: 12/1/2013 6:01:00 PMI agree, but not for the same reasons. English is a West Germanic language that was first spoken in early medieval England. I think we need to learn German because its the language that ours is based off of.
I also think we need to learn Latin and Old Norse, because they also heavily influenced our language.
-
Currently learning Spanish because it's more practical for me than learning German. I just wanted to say that English has Germanic and Latin roots, so you can't really argue that German is easier to learn based on its similarity to English, because Spanish is very similar to English as well.

Edited by Section Ratio General: 11/23/2013 10:24:26 PMI've experienced enough German girls during Oktoberfest every single year. German should be part of the curriculum like French and Spanish. Edit: Someone necro'd this one out of the grave.
-
I really want to learn German, but not because of the reasons you stated.
Except for the German girl part. That was pretty accurate.
OP sounds like one of those 5th graders who is obsessed with Germany.

Yo necessito mas tittiez! (Having spoken in 2 years lawl)

Estudio Español porque los Estados Unidos tienen muchos hispanos hablandos.
-
I've lerned Russin from my Grandpa... Is that okay? Am I cool yet?
-
I don't know about that. Practicality wise Spanish does make sense; we have a large Hispanic population and it continues to grow everyday. If you're talking about the global job market, I would actually say that there are a few languages that are more practical to learn than German. For instance, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, Korean and Russian (as well as any of their dialects) are all highly sought after languages for job applicants. This isn't to knock German by any means, mind you, as I'm predominately German. 4th Generation German American represent!
-
German is next to useless in the US. Spanish and French speakers are more common, which is why we learn it, idiot.

Edited by Iberius Huskus: 11/24/2013 12:07:18 AMNein, ich muss Spanisch mehr lernen. Spanisch ist sehr leicht. Leute sprechen mehr Spanisch als Deutcshe. Leute sprechen mehr Spanisch als Englisch. Spanisch ist mehr nützlich. Spanisch Frauen sind mehr attraktiv.

Because it sounds like talking with a mouth full of food, that's -blam!-ing gross.
