What would it take to make you a Christian? (non-theists)

The point was raised in HM Rob's thread, in a strange manner that didn't work so well. So here's a direct question for the atheists of Secular Sevens; what would it take for you to become a Christian?

Proof that God exists along with an excuse as to why he's such a douchebag.

    • I would want a reason to follow him. I don't need God to show himself, just give me a reason to leave everything else.

    • Something like this? Note, I'm a Christian in the sense that I believe in Jesus and God but don't align myself with any particular branch of Christianity. But it really is fascinating that Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and even Buddhism all have a little bit in common like the whole 40 day thing for instance.

I'll keep it short. Some reasonably unambiguous proof that suggests the christian faith is somehow higher than any other faith, along with, of course, a substantial amount of actual evidence that their deity of choice exists. Although, I'd only be christian in the sense that I believe that deity would exist at that point. It'd take quite a bit more for me to submit to their choice of rules.

I don't know if I could become a Christian. I am not saying that I wouldn't acknowledge his existence and the soundness of Christianity (assuming significant evidence verified both of those) simply because of all the ignorance and hate that Christianity (and other religious beliefs have caused). For instance, pretty much the number reason for all of the hate on LGBT folks is due to religion. The Old Testament says "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them". That is pretty deplorable. Some may respond by saying that humans misintrepreted God's Rule or some shit. Well, God should have known that and a responsible God wouldn't have yet that happen especially knowing all the hate to LGBT teens that it would bring into the future. I honestly don't think that I could follow a God that allowed such. Please understand though, that I am not rejecting his existence at this point or the truthfulness of Christianity, I am only not becoming a Christian.

      • I don't wanna be a Christian. But I'm not a non theists so this doesn't really apply to me.

      • It is silly though to "make" someone a christian you can't pay someone an amount of money to make them believe something, because deep down it is their choice. I am christian myself but I find it stupid that people think they can make someone christian without the others opinion. That is a prime example of shoving a religion down peoples throats and gives reason for people to like religion less.
