This poll is assuming your entire squad dies, and there is no one to revive.
Regarding Option #3; You would have to restart your mission, and reclaim the items in the spot you die.

I would say loose all in your inventory would be not fair, and reclaim your items crap, cause if you die and you have to go do something in reall life, then you can not reclaim those items "or will they be there forever" Nect to that if you die and you don't want to run back to the event and leave the area you loose your stuff, this would only be stupid. Next to that if you lose some money why do your best to save team mates, if you can save all thise penalties by being extra carefull, will that not make the game slower, with people more hidding out. And if you loose something when you are not revived, waht about people then that refuse to revive you. "I would say keep the game fun. No penalties for dieing then the option to reset so that you get to a checkpoint or keep laying around intill soemwhone resurects you. "then you can choose to or wait for a resuraction, or reset and run back in to the batle or to the area"
-
If you loose everything every time you die, how would you ever progress with any specific weapon? I think you should just loose a large amount of money, or something like that.
-
oddly one of my favorite things about borderlands 2 was the new u station's piffy quotes after you respawn . it made it bearable to lose money thanks to that ...
-
YES THERE SHOULD BE A PENALTY FOR DEATH. i dont think losing ALL of your inventory is fair but losing some money sounds about right. if there is no death penalty then people would just keep charging straight into the fight and not worry about any type of strategy. in older games if you died you had to start the entire level over and if you didnt have any "continues" you had to start the whole game over!
-
If there would be a penalty then the second one were you losing like 10% of your curency would be quit fair. Makes people be more carefull of what they do, but does not spoil the fact of traning items and weopons and see it all removed so that you are back to level 1. "What the next thing to take away, your ship your stats, I would not recomment this" I think if they go with something they will go with just a currency penalty "this woks out in most games" If I look at running back from your loot, well one thing for sure as long others cant get your loot this would be not a big problem. the only problem is that this can make it enoying if you die a bit more then average and all the time you need to run back to get your stuff back. It would be ennoying too if you die and you need to run back for your loot, and all the layers were gone from your team, but the monsters not, then it is impossible for you to get the loot and basicly loose it, or need to wait for how long...... till new players are there and you can get your loot again. "or ofcourse run in grap it and run away, but what the point" So I think if they will do a penalty for dead "And make us hide behind things a bit more" Well then it will proably be a currency penalty. But like anatamize states in a earlier discussion, well that only should happen if the fll fire team is dead, or the public even teams, cause then there would be nobody to revive you. "If you should be revived this should be not a problem cause then you not reseting to a checkpoint" So if they do the reviving and curency thing, well then it looks more like bordelands, you can revive for some time, but can reset to a checkpoint too, when reset to a checkpoint well then you will loose 10% of your currency. "Would be nice with splitscreen then you never alone and always have somewhone around to revive you, just make the agreement that one is always staying out if the line of fire when the other is in problems"

Edited by shaggiedo: 8/16/2013 8:19:19 AMI've heard that when you die in Destiny you loose an article of armour/clothing. These lost items are permanently removed from the game and can only be restore by leveling up. One item per level to either replace the lost article or get something new. Once all your armour/clothing has been removed due to excessive untimely deaths, the the game will begin to remove firstly: weapon attachments (assuming you have earned any) and then weapons entirely. So as you can see, dying in Destiny can have harsh consequences, and be very detrimental to your ability to be competitive. It is therefore entirely possible to end up completely naked in Destiny, left to run around with just a club. If you ever come across a guardian such as this, down on his luck - please take the time to come on over and say hello to me.

It should depend on your difficulty (if they add that)

Actually you don't have what the actual penalty will be listed. You see, when one dies in combat, and can not be resuscitated, the security guard from the Bungie office gets on the first available flight to your state/city. Gets a taxi to drive him to your location, busts down your front door, slowly walks up to you whilst smacking his gravity ban hammer in his fists of havoc. And asks if you had recently died while playing Destiny. You reply honestly cause I mean he's quite intimidating, and he rears his hammer back above his head, channeling the Travelers magic to his arms. And sternly slaps your wrist and says "BAD, don't let me catch you doing that again." And just before leaving he glares back at you and takes your last beer, just to make sure you got the message clearly. That, is what happens when you play Destiny alone and die but can't be revived by someone in time. Thus further pushing Bungie's goal to draw lone wolf type players into the co-operative game. Thank you for humoring me by reading this. Have a Good Day.

I see people writing about a penalty, but think a pentalty would be kinda lame. You get in to a public event and you try to save some guys that can't handle the boss completly, in a result you die, well all of the sudden I read that you should loose or some money, or your chance on gear, or whatever. But if somewhone resurect you, then you there again, so why should that decreas your chances on a rare loot. "What the point of staying in a batle if you die once and you can't get the loot" Or do you expect we all stay behind crates wishing we stay alive forever, so that we can get nice loot. "So a penalty would make it not nicer to play, only worse. In the end if you all die does that not mean you need to start over as a group on the boss again, so if one dies that is penalty enough, cause it is a change that the group will not be ablte to take down the boss" And if you die alone in batle, well if you get resurected just outside the combat, so that you can get in again that would be nice, that keeps you playing. "otherwise it would never be fair to people that play with somebody cause they can always resurect, so respawn a just outside the batle would be nice"

I like the last poll option, it would make the game a lil more survival based

I'm assuming you get checkpoints after every loot drop. Of course then there's the question of "what if I disconnect after killing Rixis but before picking up loot" or "what if I get a checkpoint and want to keep re-rolling for loot?". I guess you'd get a checkpoint after killing an enemy that drops loot, and another right after you pick it up and find out what that loot is, to prevent exploiting the system to reroll for loot you want. Enemies would always drop loot of a certain tier, so that'd make rerolling for, say, a gold loot orb instead of a purple one a moot issue. And it would just logically follow that checkpoints outside of Public Events, that occur before/after you enter/exit those areas, are likely where you restart from if everyone dies in those.
-
Well we haven't seen anything received from killing lesser enemies, but killing the mini-bosses would reward you with loot. So i'd assume the checkpoints, currency, and experience rewards are after you pick up loot from the mini-bosses. As for death penalty you could lose experience and currency upon respawn as well as restarting the mission with the enemies regenerated.
-
Depends on the game feel they are shooting for. Honestly I don't think you should lose everything in your inventory, that's way too hardcore. And I feel there are more creative ways of punishing you for Death than simply losing currency. I liked how Dark Souls challenged you to make it back to where you died in order to reclaim your souls, perhaps something like that?
-
I'd prefer lowered drop rates upon respawn at checkpoint.
-
They're most likely gonna go with option 2 since they don't wanna make the game too hardcore. But I am hoping they make an uber mode where they implement option 3 and make the enemies harder but make the loot more impressive.
-
I like option 2, there should be some motivation to live.
-
I would REALLY like something like Demon's/Dark Souls where if you die, you loose all of your Souls (A.K.A. Experience, for starters) but, as an added bonus if you were on a mission, apart from losing your XP you lose all bounty gathered so far and restart at the last checkpoint available trying to recover your loot. No loot available again from sources like chests or Special Enemies though, but your bounty would be where your corpse is.
-
When i read the title, i totally thought it would be about the death penalty for committing crimes. *facepalm*
-
I have the idea of losing everything in a game like destiny =/
-
if u kil sqwad, u hav 2 go 2 court an trial 4 penaty
-
Seems like games are phasing out penalties for dying
