Part 4 - Rooks(Zo'ruuk)Adulthood

Adulthood The trio walked into the barracks, people were scrambling for their equipment. Noisy and frantic, the men were in a frenzy. As a man went to run past Rook, he grabbed his arm. "Soldier, whats going on here?" Rook yelled above the fray. "The enemy ships have attacked the outer colonies, thats about all we know! Comms are down and the Council is calling the Military to action!" The man hollered back. Rook looked back at Tor'iik and Kotur, each with a grave look on their face. ".....We are at war men...to your stations." Rook said to them solemnly, barely heard above the men scrambling around in the room. The Wall was nearly complete, and as the Military was called to action and given orders, Rooks EOD team were tasked with sentry outside the wall. The large part of the Galaxies Military was on Earth, great ships went up and out of Earths atmosphere to fight the War. Kotur was called to lead his forces on Mars, to defend the great resources and palaces located there. All Rook had time for was a quick goodbye. "Good luck up there old man." Rook forced a chuckle, he was in no laughing mood. Kotur stood before Rook, new cape, emblazoned with the Bear flapping in the wind of his ships engines, just yards away. "I don't need luck, lad. You take care of yourself down here." Kotur looked him in the eye and offered his hand. Rook clasped it and they shook. In silence Kotur turned and walked to his ship. Rook saluted the man as he entered, a bad feeling in his gut. Would they meet again? He thought, turning as the great ship lofted off and towards the sky. The outer colonies fell. The enemy of many kinds were forcing their way towards the inner planets, Humanity, Awoken, and Exo were falling. The inner planets were holding out, but to no avail. A genocide was on our hands, we came to know they wanted.....our planets. Saturn fell, then Mars, Mercury, and Venus. As they were taking the moon and the Galaxies forces were dwindling the Traveler left Earth, flying away from our great City. It fought, it decimated their forces with its arcane energy, but was injured and weakened. Back to Earth it flew to rest above the city once more, protecting us from the enemies attacks with its great powers. The moon fell to the enemy, and what was left of the them, still large in number flooded the Earth, populating our home, killing our people. The military fought back with all they could, and won skirmishes as often as not. Earth was being lost, city after city fell, but Humanity held them back with what we could. With the falling of Humanity and the new Kin people began to study the Travelers energies, revealing magic to our kind, giving us a fighting chance. What was left of the military became the Guardians, protectors of the Last City. Rooks Squad remained outside of the City as the Titans finished the Wall, towering above them. They had little action nowadays, the enemy dared not near the Great City. Tor'iik and Rook spent their time scouting, Rook hadn't heard from Kotur, he had heard Mars fell to the creatures known as Cabal, but he just couldn't accept the thought of losing his Mentor. The galaxy fell in just a year, The Golden Age was over, cities and colonies decimated, Golden Age Tech and weaponry were lost, and very few were ever found. The world had returned to the Dark Age Rook thought, just on different terms, and this time, Humanity was one against the invading forces. "I really don't know what to think of this Tor'iik." Rook said, looking over a great field before them, not far from the City. "I understand my friend, but things change for reasons unknown to us." He said cryptically in that raspy voice. Rook chuckled and kicked at the grass at his feet. The sun beating down on them, the breeze blowing generously, it was a nice day at least, he thought. "Well, we should head back." Rook said, he turned and started to head down the hill with Tor'iik just behind. In the distance a soldier was walking toward them. Shielding his eyes from the sub, "I wonder what Jensen wants." Rook exclaimed. Walking towards them, as he neared they saw he had news by the looks of it. "Sir, new orders in sir, we are to move to Sand sector D-12, enemy forces have been spotted and are to be engaged." Jensen reported. "What race of enemy, Jensen?" Rook said dryly. "Cabal, sir." Jensen said, shuffling nervously. It was known among the men Rooks disdain for the creatures that had killed General Kotur. "Sounds like we're on the move, what say you Tor'iik?" Turning to Tor'iik, Rook smiled. Tor'iik nodded. It was a good day indeed Rook thought, as they headed back to the camp to pack and get ready to March. This battle was to be the most important of his life. So to the great sands they marched to face their enemy. To Be Continued.... -Hope you guys enjoyed Rooks story of his life leading up to the next great twist! I hope you enjoy the stories and return for more!-
