So I've picked up an old skateboard and am using it recreationally, around the neighbourhood, to the bus stop, etc. I'm fine with balance and speed, but can't stop when going downhill to save a life unless I jump the fence and bail onto someone's garden (not recommended if there's a bloody dog in there). Every attempt to make a controlled slide stop ends in tears. What do I do? The hills around my area are 10-15 degrees on average, if that helps.
On a related note: Does anyone skateboard around here? Know any tricks?

Stay on till the bottom of the hill just let the speed die down when you hit the bottom

I've only sat down on them and pushed myself along like a rowboat.

I do.

Gunna pick up a board soon and start skating again. Haven't done it in a while.

I use it,that is a good start,if you can,try to use other bearings(currently using abec 9,you might want to downgrade and practice, and then when you are confident that you're really capable, upgrade and have fun)

Used to when I was a teenager. Haven't touched a skateboard in over a decade though. I miss it sometimes, but now I'm too afraid to get hurt.
