I believe that People should have the right to do what they want with their selves and property until they do something that encroaches in a reasonable way on the rights of others to have the same freedoms of self and property. I believe that atheists claiming that saying “under god” in the pledge of allegiance is a violation of their rights is unreasonable and douchey. Individuals that use drugs and alcohol tend to violate the freedoms of others in a reasonable way in my opinion. The use of drugs and alcohol is the leading cause of preventable death in western society. For individuals under the age of 29 the leading cause of preventable death is from motor vehicle accidents, of which fatal accidents primarily are related to intoxication and cell phone use. After age 30 the leading cause of preventable death is tobacco use. The licit drugs in our society are some of our societies greatest killers and they put at risk the lives of those who choose not partake in them. Illicit drugs are distributed primarily through a network of lawlessness, violence and societal destruction. My major problem with illicit drugs is with drugs that are distributed by and encourage the culture of violent degenerates. I am pragmatic however, drug use while reprehensible and distasteful is a fact of our society and our repression of it creates as many problems as it solves. There is no easy solution to solving our society’s preoccupation with chemical dependency and experimentation. I think in America we do a shit job of dealing with drugs and in particular the use of illicit drugs. We throw people in jail where they tend to learn how to become better criminals instead of how to rehabilitate and contribute to our society. There are solutions but none of them are good. If we make all drugs legal we end the sponsorship by middle and upper-class citizens of crime organizations, thugs, gangsters and flat out piles of shit. However making drugs legal would diminish the message of drugs bad and without question increase the overall use of drugs which could have its own negative impacts on society. Discoraging the use of drugs and getting better at rehabilitating drug users is the best we can do in my opinion. So no I would not have weed be legal. I would take your cigarettes and alcohol away from you too. I am the fun police. Go get a job and quit smoking grass.
