How bad is Windows 8?

I've been reading up on it a lot and after all of it I'm not only not interested in upgrading to it I'm actually afraid for computer's safety since I don't have the expertise to build a computer using Windows 7 and every computer available now has this stupid tablet program installed. And I still want to play video games on my computer so I don't want to switch to a Mac unless its necessary. Are my fears justified?

  • Shit. I tried using my GF's laptop that had W8 to upload some photo's from my 3DS to my Flash drive. Finding how to get back to the desktop was near impossible, finding how to get to my damn files was near impossible Finding out how to open a new tab in Google Chrome was near impossible Finding out how to take file A to Flashdrive B was near impossible And to make it a computer hell It was on a laptop were the touchpad felt like it had a sensitivity of 2

    • It's not bad. Remove the Metro apps and you're good to go. You end up with a more stable and snappier version or Windows 7.

Windows 8 isn't as bad as people are saying it is (if you havent noticed, a rather large fraction of people on the internet are very angry and full of hate) I'm not really sure how it is gaming-wise though. If you do happen to get a new computer and it has Windows 8 installed, there are ways to downgrade it to Windows 7

It's not bad, other than the Start screen. To work around that I just pinned Control Panel and the file browser to my taskbar.

    • Win8 is not bad, its just different. When I used Win8, it took awhile to get used to. eveything changed. keep Win7 if its still keeps you happy. as for the Desktop Win7s, they are still out there you just need to look harder (they are also on sale as well).

    • It's not that bad, I haven't had any problems with it besides having to reinstall drivers when I first upgraded. The main reason I upgraded is because it was only $15 dollars, with the money I saved I just bought the Start8 Start Button.

      • I wouldn't say it's bad, it's just different. Personally, I prefer Win7 on desktop, but I love Win8 on tablets.

It just takes awhile to get used to. Other than that, nothing is wrong with it. It actually uses less of your RAM and CPU performance to be used for your apps such as your browser or games.

      • Its got a weird interface but, not that bad once you learn it. Takes a while to adjust to tho. I wouldn't switch unless you have to. Win 7 is great

        • I've used a bit of Windows 8. It's not bad, but it took e a long time to get used to, compared to my jump from XP to 7 (I've never used Vista, but I heard it's BAD)

        • I actually quite like Win8. It takes a little adjusting if you've used Win7 for a long time, but it's not bad.
