They just don't work because of the people that live in countries that employ the Political agenda themselves, and also feel free to explain why Capitalism, or whichever light on the spectrum America is now, also is not working any more. My parents need to learn that the two aren't bad because they don't work in practice, that's to the fault of humanity and not to the way that if done right, which is what Theory goes for. They won't listen to what I've said, so to those that post a decent explanation, I will be relaying it to them and giving their responses.

Edited by Banned Sparkles : 10/5/2013 2:19:46 PMIt isn't to the faults of humanity. It is to the faults of capitalism. Every human ultimately acts with self-interest. Capitalism causes this self-interest to be manifested as 'selfishness' and greed. For if a system works entirely on obtaining and circulating meaningless bits of paper - people are ultimately going to strive for those bits of paper. Socialism, and ultimately, communism could work and has worked. I feel it could work in the Marxist sense, and it has worked in the Anarchist sense. The problem with the USSR was Lenin's interpretation of Marxist philosophy, and with China it was the empowerment of the agrarian societies over the proletariat. For communism to work - you need communists. How can you possibly expect communism to work when it is enforced? Especially since enforcing communism makes it no longer communism. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I can't hear you over my equality

In theory, yes, some parts of them. In practice? For the most part, no.

I'd go into it, but it's not really worth it. People just don't like the idea of not being superior to someone else.

Edited by Fallen: 10/5/2013 1:53:49 AMThis discussion has been done to death for decades. "It fails in practice but it's good in theory." SSDD.

if only we had some other political ideology to turn to that would save us...

The problem wholly relies within the equal income measure of socialist economic systems.

You deserve what you work for. Somebody who focused through out school, spent 8-10 years in college, accumulated tremendous debt, then becomes a neurosurgeon should enjoy a better lifestyle than a somebody who just barely passed school and became a janitor.

Find a way to implement it with no social consequences and safeguards in place to prevent tyrants from taking advantage of the inherently corrupt system and I might just agree with you.

"Well in theory..."

while i wont argue with you about the fallacies of communism, the reason capitalism isnt working in america is because we arent using capitalism
