So many of you may know, that people are usually against government workers getting high pay. But an interesting question has risen for me, when looking into a country by the name of Singapore. Although wage cuts are trying to be pushed by the opposition, one wonders whether the governments argument against it is right. With the president getting a 51% cut in his wages, so he will go to 1.5 million Singaporean dollar, which is still 4 times as much as the president of the US. This will happen if the committee recommendation are accepted.
The basic principle is that the wage of government salary will be dependent on the wag of an equal position job in the private sector after tax. This according to the government of Singapore and supporters of it, allows the government to compete successfully for the best of the best and the brightest in the workforce. Not only this, it is said to be one of the core reasons for Singapore low corruption rate. Where it is considered the fifth least corrupt nation in the world.
So flood what is your view on this wage system, is it right or wrong?
