And the yellow tint to my teeth will not for the life of me go away. I've been brushing all over the place, front, back, everywhere in my mouth. I still have a slight yellow tint when I examine after each attempt. The middle looks slightly better but the sides definitely have a more yellow tint to them.
Is this normal? I'm trying to take better care of myself and I have no intention of visiting the damn dentist. Should I just keep brushing until it gets better?
EDIT: UPDATE: I wont ever brush for half an hour again like you guys said. I'll only brush twice a day for five minutes every day. And I'll have a small glass of water after having acidic food/drinks.

Brush with peroxide/baking soda combined and stop drinking fluoridated water.

whitening strips
I'm trying to take better care of myself.
That's good.
I have no intention of visiting the damn dentist.
Well that went to hell fast.

Edited by qy: 10/15/2013 11:47:43 PMWho needs enamel anyway? Honestly, filter your water and brush with baking soda for 2 minutes, twice a day for best results. For some reason everyone thinks fluoride is good for your teeth, so the government puts it in our water and the oral hygiene companies put it in our toothpaste.
-
You probably just brushed off layers of enamel and are going to cause more staining to occur. Go get your teeth bleached some or use strips or other whitening agents other than whitening toothpaste (shown to be temporary and least effective). Brush about twice a day unless one more is needed and use a soft brush, always swish mouth with water after acidic food or drink and don't brush right after these acidic foods.

Have you tried a whitening toothpaste? That actually works to a certain degree.
-
Don't brush too much. Do you consume coffee? Or anything that might stain your teeth?
-
Over-brushing will only make your teeth yellower because it wears down the enamel.
-
You need to go and suck many dicks OP. Many many dicks. Gargle that ejaculate, swill it around your mouth. Guaranteed way to whiten your teeth. Trust.

Edited by BADMAGIK: 10/15/2013 6:57:24 PMOver brushing is very bad for your teeth. You can damage your teeth by starting to remove the enamel and you brushing so much and using too much fluoride will cause your teeth to discolor to yellow.
-
Brush for 6 minutes in the morning, and 6 minutes at night. And any time else when you get a chance in between. Use a 'gentle whitening' toothpaste. And never use a manual brush when there's an electric toothbrush available.
-
you will never get them whiter from just brushing them

Yes it's normal, it's just what happens to teeth as you get older/eat food/drink liquids. If you have poor tooth enamel I think that makes it look a bit worse but I'm not sure. Just brush regularly with toothpaste and it should improve, you could also look into whitening pastes if you want but it's not really worth the bother unless your teeth are daffodil yellow.

Get some of those bleaching strips.

Become black. The contrast from the colours works like a dream. Haha my teeth are pretty good. Never once had a cavity. XD

Stop smoking

Er... Brushing for too long, not long enough, too infrequently or too frequently all cause yellow teeth. The only way to get rid of it is brush for 5 minutes once a day every day. Most people brush twice but this can wear out your teeth faster so if you have bad plaque your teeth are softer and more susceptible to wear from the friction of the tooth brush so only brush once a day, for five minutes, every day, until the yellowing disappears. After that get UV treatment to get glossy white teeth or stick with gray ones if you prefer the natural look.
-
Brushing to long will ruin your teeth, and make them over sensitve.
-
Several issues here: 1. You're not supposed to brush more than 5 minutes at a time 2-3 times a day I wouldn't be surprised if you're tearing the shit out of your gums right now 2. It takes time to whiten You're not going to whiten your teeth in one day's brushing, I would think you're smart enough to figure that out. 3. There's bleaching and several other things you could do to speed that along Though I myself would just stick to brushing and mouthwashing, flossing is a waste of time in my opinion

Put baking soda on your toothpaste or get the arm and hammer toothpaste. Brush twice a day with that and after a few months you will start to notice a difference, within a year the difference will be very substantial. Even if you brush your teeth for two days straight, you wouldn't notice any difference. It's something that happens over time.
and I have no intention of visiting the damn dentist.
I think I've found your problem.

In all seriousness. As a man who didn't see his first dentist until the age of 20.. and never even had a cavity.. go to the damn dentist. It's costing me thousands now.

You need to brush for a whole year.
