The dumbest charity event I've ever seen: 25 hours of gaming

Okay, so here's how this works (directly from the website): 1. You sign up. 2. You ask for sponsors (donations) 3. You play video games for 25 hours straight Maybe I'm not getting it, but I'm not seeing the connection between steps 2 and 3. This isn't like a charity 5k or something like that, because in those events the event participation fee is the donation. So someone hosts an event, and people pay to participate. In this situation, people are paying to have someone play video games for a whole day. In that case, what's the point of the 25 hour gaming session other than to waste time? Yes this is for a good cause, but why not just donate? Now I'm all for charity, but generally these charities have some sort of incentive to make the donors feel a sense of accomplishment while simultaneously including victims of whatever cause (for instance, breast cancer races generally have a bunch of breast cancer victims there and people support them during the run). But this seems like the opposite...donors are paying to incentivise other people to have fun. Isn't that a bit backwards...and kinda stupid? Post opinions. Post cats. Go.

  • I have energy saving light bulbs because I like convincing myself I give a f.uck about the environment. Next week I'll be wearing my pajamas for a day to help the homeless. A whole f.ucking day.
