The next generation of console gaming is just over the horizon. And while there's plenty of reasons to hang on to your old PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, owning a competent gaming PC is also a solid investment. Today, Alienware has expanded its trade-in program to accept aging game consoles for anyone purchasing one of its PC rigs.
So now the over-priced Alienwares are not as overpriced?
For example:
Alienware's cheapest desktop is their $700 X51, which comes with a 4th gen i3, 6GB of RAM, 1TB HDD, and an Nvidia 645. For $700, we all know you can get better, but that's not too bad. With their trade in program, you can essentially cut that down to $500, making the cheapest X51, well, not-so-over-priced.
So is this a good move for Alienware? Yes. If it gets more people to move over to PC gaming, I'm all for it.
