We all know that the current idea that anything below 7 is "shit", and that now it's getting to the point where anything below 8 is "shit", what are we meant to do? Clearly we can't use it in a reasonable way where say, a 2 means a broken mess of a game ala related topic, but we also can't keep the current system - so what do we do?
Unless of course, we simply ignore the blatantly biased and broken "reviews" and "journalists". but maybe that's just hoping for too much.

Edited by Cheat: 10/27/2013 3:35:06 AMI think the problems arise, in part, from the way alphabetical grades are assigned (like in schools and stuff), where an A is 90 to 100 but an F is anything below 60 (most of the time, at least). An 'average grade' would be a C, which is 70-79, but numerically it should be right down the middle at 5/10.

Edited by U124926: 10/26/2013 1:25:06 AMA game automatically gets 5/10 just for being functional from most reviewers. Subtract five from both sides and it will give you the unadulterated score for the game outside of mere functionality. 5/10 = 0/5 6/10 = 1/5 etc etc etc

Edited by Elrond Hubbard: 10/26/2013 1:36:51 AMThis is generally how I've thought of it: 10/10 - damn near perfect game 9/10 - great game 8/10 - good, but some improvements could make it great 7/10 - average 6/10 - below average Anything else - a measure of how bad it is.

You mean 7 - 10 scoring system? 6 and below are never used for any game ever.

I like Angry Joe's ranking system. 10/10 is legendary 9/10 is must-own 8/10 is awesome 7/10 is good 6/10 is decent 5/10 is average 4/10 is meh 3/10 is terrible 2/10 is utter garbage 1/10 is Unplayable What the fu.ck is this shit?

Stop reviewing games, that's retarded. People who buy games already have watched plenty of videos and have made up their mind. The next step is to buy the game and enjoy it or return it. 30 days is MORE than enough time to make up your mind. That's how a game should be rated, if you had fun or not. I don't really read journalism articles about games or watch reviews apart from a few youtube channels i'm subbed to. My favorite reviewer has to honestly be MWN (ModerWarNegro) because he doesn't rate games, he just tells you if it was some bullshit or if he had fun. I think that's what matters most of the time.

Use your own brain and recognize that some reviewer who was probably paid and instructed to write favorably/negatively of a game isn't the end-all-be-all of what determines how much you enjoy a game. People get so fussy over scores, as if what someone else thinks should have any meaningful bearing on your own opinion.

This will explain all!
